Mike Says:

(05/01/05)

THE NICE GUYS ON TV!!!

No, we're not appearing on American Idol! We're pimping the Nice Guy, yo!

Mark your calendars, because your friendly neighborhood Nice Guy creators, Michael O'Connell and Tim Watts (in case you forgot), will be appearing LIVE on KOVR Channel 13 on Friday, May 6th (that's this Friday, if you don't own a calendar). And set your alarm clocks, too, because we'll be on at 6:48 a.m. That's why they call it the "Daybreak" show, kids.

We'll be doing our first TV interview on the local Sacramento CBS affiliate, appearing with Brian Peets (the guy all serious Nice Guy readers know as the owner of A-1 Comics) to talk about our appearance the following day at the Free Comic Book Day event. From what I'm told, there's going to be still shots from "The Nice Guy: Pilot" used during the interview, as well as video shots of this very web page. Pretty cool, huh? We're happy to have the chance to spread a little of the Nice Guy news, and we're hopeful that it might convince some people to come on out to the event the following day and BUY OUR COMIC!!

So if you're in the Sacramento area, and you're up that early, be sure to tune in and check us out. Who knows...maybe I can even talk them into letting us show the segment here on our web page (don't hold me to it, though).

Oh, and did I mention something about Free Comic Book Day?

THE NICE GUYS APPEARING AT A-1 COMICS IN ROSEVILLE ON 5/7/05 FOR FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!

It's the time of year again, and the Nice Guy creators have once again been invited to appear for your autographing pleasure at A-1 Comics for Free Comic Book Day.

Tim and I will be out there selling copies of "The Nice Guy: Pilot" and meeting the fans on Saturday, May 7th. Brian Peets, the A-1 owner and big Nice Guy fan, has thrown together another slammin' FCBD celebration for you Sacramento area comic fans (and fans-to-be).

If you're new to the event, this is the annual industry day to make the public aware of the comic book bizness, and to give away free product. Aside from being able to get free comics (I must point out, again, that ours is not free...), there are a number of creators appearing you'll be able to meet. Our pal Dan Cooney (Valentine) will be there, and will also be teaching a class on comic book drawing at 12:00 PM. Also appearing will be Chris Wisnia (Tabloia, Ojo), Paige Braddock (Jane's World), Jennifer Feinberg (Little Scrowlie), Jim Sinclair (The Maxx) and Steve Buell (Video). The editor of Kitbuilders Magazine, Dan Jorgensen, will be on hand to teach a class in the basics of kit building and model building at 2:00 PM, and there will also be an art contest at 2:00 PM (all submissions, if you're interested, must be turned in to the Roseville store by close of business on 5/6/05, must be in black and white, and must be related to the comic genre. So no self-portraits unless you're wearing a mask and cape). Brian promises (and delivers!) big fun for all, so if you're open on Saturday, be sure to drop by, get your free goodies, and say hello to us! We'd love to see you!

The event will be happening from 10:00 AM to 10:00 pm (I think we're there until about 4:00 PM, when Brian will start to notice us taking advantage of the complimentary celebrity snacks and drinks), and will be taking place at:

A-1 Comics Roseville

Roseville, CA 95661

Big news for Firefly fans! The trailer for the upcoming Firefly theatrical movie, "Serenity", is now up for your viewing and drooling pleasure at Apple.com. As big fans ourselves, we're very excited to check this out, and will be waiting breathlessly for the September 30th release date. So check it out, join the revolution, and become a Browncoat yourself! Me? I'll be in my bunk...

DISTURBING INTERNET IMAGE OF THE WEEK

Sorry, I don't want to gross anyone out, but I just think it's poetically just that Keanu finally knows how we feel after watching one of his movies...

LET'S NOT SAY GOOD-BYE...LET'S JUST SAY "UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN".

Tune in next time around for our report on both the TV appearance and the Free Comic Book Day shindig. Until then, be happy, because summer is almost here!! Rain, rain, go away!
